Little Annie Futurism

If you are a regular fan of Boing Boing like I am you might have seen the interesting article on how artist Mark Pillo has a piece of art that is VERY similiar to Tim Biskup. I have been saying this for a long time that while Juxtapoz is an awesome mag that has shown a lot of people the new lo-fi (thaz my term suckah!) art, new artists have to look beyond those ten stars that are shown in every issue.
You love Robert Williams, Tim Biskup, Coop, Shag, Glenn Barr? Well, look at Wally Wood or Harvey Kurtzman (those Little Annie Fannys, WOW!). Bill Wray, Jim Flora, Bill Ward or even Bruce Timm.
Or even go back a little further and learn about the Italian Futurists or the German Expressionists Max
Beckmann, Otto Dix, George Grosz, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner. Looking at last months issue does not work any more folks. That also goes for all of the new galleries that just copy the mag for next years line up.
