WALLY WOOD

Back when I was around 13 years old one of the first comic book artists I ever found out about was Wally Wood. He was primarily known for his work at EC comics from the 50's like Weird Science,Weird Fantasy and early Mad magazine but he also did some cool work for Marvel and Warren. In the 70's he started to self publish with titles like Cannon and Sally Forth. What I really liked were all the details in his work (interiors of space ships!) and the double-lighting effects that he would create on his figures. Very dramatic. Of course my favorite were the 5'2'' women he would draw. They were so cute! Wally Wood took his own life in 1981 but there is so much incredible work he left behind that he is still an influential artist. He is on my top five comic artist list. Check him out.

This is a cool link to a fan who used to correspond with Wood back in the 70's.

These are really great. Someone should do a comic based on these.
Im very surprised and happy to find that there are actually a lot of great sites out there honoring Wally Wood.
